Shopping in Philipsburg
Have a drink on the boardwalk and shop in front street and back street. You will find many jewelry stores as well as clothing and souvenirs shops. Do not forget the old street and the Guavaberry boutique! If you are hungry for ice cream, go to Gelateria Milano and their secret garden.
Plane Watching at Maho
A must do when visiting SXM! Maho is the world famous beach for plane landing and take-off. Beware of the jet blast! Have lunch at Sunset Bar where you can observe the planes closely. You can also rent beach chairs.
If you’re looking for a beach that’s quiet but not totally secluded, Cupecoy is a good choice. Its white sands are backed by low sandstone cliffs that have been eroded in such a way that they provide a run of small semiprivate coves. Clothing optional. Stay until the end of the afternoon to watch the sunset. You can have diner at the near by Porto Cupecoy Plaza, there are several restaurants on the marina.

One of St. Maarten’s most famous nightlife locations, featuring fabulous live entertainment nightly from a host of talented international performers.
Rent a cabana for the day in an exceptional tropical setting with pool, restaurant, zipline and hiking trails.
Observatory at Pic Paradis
Drive Pic Paradis road until the end of the road, park and continue the dirt road by foot. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the observation point on the highest point of the island
Have a gastronomic dinner
On the hills of Pic Paradis, you will find Villa Hibiscus. The chef Bastian and his wife welcome you for a gastronomic experience with 5 to 7 dishes. The Chef was trained with some of the most iconic Chefs in France, Joel Robuchon ** and Anne Sophie Pic ***.
Rent a Kayak (or take the ferry boat) from Cul de Sac French side to reach Pinel Island. You can enjoy the calm transparent water, an ideal spot for snorkeling. Look for the iguanas, you can touch them if you are brave enough! You can also walk around the island, follow the trail that will offer several beautiful observation spots and reach a clothing optional beach. 2 restaurants are open for lunch, we recommend making a table reservation as soon as you arrive on the island. The island closes at 5pm.

Romantic French restaurant in a Caribbean decor, you will enjoy the calm atmosphere around the pool.
Friar’s Bay / Happy Bay
Spend the morning on the secluded beach of Happy Bay (clothing optional). Drive to Friar’s Bay and walk 10 minutes on the trail to Happy Bay. Look for the Iguanas! For lunch, come back to Friar’s Bay beach, you will find 2 beach restaurants.
Marigot is the Capital of the French side. Visit Fort Louis to get a view of the town and the bay. Discover the Richardson Art Gallery in a typical Creole house with a beautiful garden. Shop for souvenirs on the main street and the marina.
Join the Champagne Sunset Cruise and Catamaran Sail. They sail along the island’s calmer Leeward coast listening to music and the wind. Enjoy an open bar, champagne and some very nice snacks.

Orient Bay beach
The most famous beach on the French side with many beach bars and water sport activities (parasail, jet ski rental, etc). Beach chair rental available. Stop by the gourmet shop “On dirait le Sud” to bring back some souvenirs.
Dinner at Astrolabe
Magical place in the heart of Orient Bay offering delicious dinner by the pool or in the tropical garden.
Get some thrill with the steepest zipline of the world! A Chair lift will take you all the way to the observation point on top of the hill. A the bottom, you will find a free museum on slave history. You can have your lunch at Emilio’s restaurant, set within the walls of the plantation’s Sugar Cane Boiling house of the former owner of the Estate, Emilio Wilson.
Visit the home of the “World’s Best Tasting Rhum” handmade right here in St. Maarten. A tour guide will walk you through the 6000 sq. ft. distillery. You will learn a little history of rum making in the Caribbean. After that you will see the blending process and how they expertly bottle the handcrafted rhums. You will then visit the lab see how they create different flavored rhums and try a new flavor that is in development. Following the tour you will be invited to the tasting bar where you will be welcome to taste all the artisanal products. You will even have the opportunity to bottle your very own Topper’s Rhum to take home!
Most popular beach on the Dutch side, located along the golf course of Mullet Bay. The postcard perfect picture: a wide and flat white sand beach with a stand of palm trees and seagrapes on the fringe. On clear days, there is a fantastic view of the neighboring island of Saba.
Simpson Bay is a vibrant location on the Dutch side with many activities and restaurants. You will find all types of international cuisine for Dinner. If you are there at 5pm, we recommend going to the Simpson Bay yacht Club restaurant to watch the yachts entering in the bay. At night, you will find bars with live music.

Anse Marcel Beach
Anse Marcel is nestled in the most discreet cove of the French side. You can rent a chair at Anse Marcel Beach bar and snorkle. The restaurant won a culinary prize (Gault and Millau), enjoy your lunch!
Grand Case is a charming village known as the culinary capital of the Caribbean. Unfortunately, hurricane Irma has hit the village and you can still notice renovation work. However, you will enjoy visiting the small shops for souvenirs, walking on the beach and snorkeling at Petite Plage. You will notice 2 BBQ restaurants on the beach, they are called “Les Lolos”. If you are looking for a gastronomic experience for dinner, our favorites are Barranco, Le Temps des Cerises or Bistrot Caraibes. Depending on the day of the week, you will find live music to enjoy your evening. During high season, come on Tuesday evening for the block party “Les Mardis de Grand Case”.
